Serving the Midwest,

I want to say something that does not fit neatly on a truck or a yard sign.

Thank you.

What your trust actually means to us

A roof is one of the largest expenses most families take on, and it is one you cannot inspect for yourself. You cannot see the decking. You cannot see whether the flashing was done right or done fast. You are, in the end, trusting the people we sent to your house.

That is not a small thing to hand over, and we have never taken it as one. Every roof we have put on across Missouri, Kansas, Illinois and Indiana went on because a family decided to believe us. I am aware of what that is worth.

What that obligates us to

Three things, and we do not negotiate on them:

  • Honest guidance. If your roof has five good years left, we will tell you it has five good years left. We would rather do the repair now and the replacement when you actually need it. Turning down work we could have sold is the clearest signal a contractor can give you about what they are.
  • Skilled craftsmanship. The parts of a roof that matter most are the parts you will never see. Flashing, valleys, ventilation, underlayment, the details at the edges. Those are where roofs fail and where corners get cut.
  • Commitment to quality. Our workmanship warranty means our name stays attached to the work long after the crew has gone home.

A name that gets handed down

This is a third-generation family business. We have been family-owned since 1947, and the name on the trucks was handed to me to look after, not bought off a shelf, and that changes what a complaint costs. Every roof we install either adds to that name or takes something away from it, and there is no version of this where I get to walk away from the sign and start over somewhere else under a different one.

That is the whole reason I would rather lose a sale than earn a complaint.

Why we answer the phone at two in the morning

When Mother Nature’s at her worst, we’re at our best. I say it a lot, and there is a reason it is not just a line.

Roofs do not fail on a schedule. They fail during the storm, at night, on a holiday weekend, when every office in town is closed and a homeowner is standing in a hallway watching water come through a ceiling with no idea who to call. A company that only answers between eight and five is not really in the emergency business, whatever the truck says.

So we answer. A real person, any hour, every day of the year.

To the people who sent us their neighbors

A referral is the highest compliment a contractor can receive, because you are putting your own judgment on the line with somebody you have to keep seeing. When a customer sends us down the street, that is the review that matters most, and a great deal of our work has come exactly that way.

Thank you for that specifically.

And to the people who have not called us yet

You do not owe us anything to find out where you stand. Our roof inspection is free, we photograph every slope, and you get the written report whether you hire us or not. If your roof is fine, we will tell you it is fine.

If you ever need us, at any hour, call me at 1-800-564-6232.
