Our Commitment to Employee Development
At John Beal Roofing, our success is tied to the dedication of our workforce. As a third-generation family-owned business with roots dating back to 1947, we have proudly served over 50,000 customers. We are deeply committed to the ongoing career development of every team member. We understand that the roofing industry is demanding and constantly evolving. Therefore, we provide the resources, education, and support necessary for our employees to thrive in their respective roles. Whether you are a new hire entering the industry for the first time or an experienced professional looking to take the next step in your career, John Beal Roofing offers structured training and clear pathways for long-term career growth.
Our commitment extends across all 10 of our local offices. Whether you are based at our St. Louis headquarters located at 12181 Prichard Farm Rd in Maryland Heights, MO, or working out of Kansas City, Indianapolis, Springfield MO, Columbia, Jefferson City, Lake of the Ozarks, Farmington, Cape Girardeau, or Southern Illinois (Carbondale), you will find a consistent focus on training. We also extend this to our team members serving Paducah, KY. By investing in our people, we uphold the standards required to maintain our status as an Owens Corning Platinum Preferred Contractor, a GAF Master Elite contractor, and a CertainTeed SELECT ShingleMaster.

New Account Manager Onboarding
Starting a new career can be a significant transition, which is why we have developed a structured onboarding process for our new Account Managers. This initial training period takes about two weeks to complete and equips new hires with foundational knowledge and operational understanding they need to succeed in the field.
During onboarding, new team members are immersed in our company culture. We emphasize ethical business practices, educating our staff on the principles that earned us the BBB Torch Award for marketplace ethics. The curriculum covers residential roofing, commercial roofing, storm restoration, general repair, and full roof replacement, as well as gutters, siding, windows, and solar installations. This intensive introduction ensures that every new Account Manager is fully prepared to represent John Beal Roofing confidently.
Hands-On Field Training
While classroom-style onboarding provides essential background knowledge, we firmly believe that the most effective way to learn the roofing business is through direct, hands-on experience. Following the initial two-week onboarding period, our training program transitions directly into the field. New sales representatives participate in extensive ride-alongs with our experienced reps. During these ride-alongs, new hires observe real-world customer interactions and shadow comprehensive property inspections. They see firsthand how our top performers communicate with homeowners and business owners, handle objections, and manage the day-to-day responsibilities of an Account Manager.

Roofing Product and Industry Education
To ensure our team remains highly knowledgeable, we prioritize ongoing education on roofing products and industry standards. This covers the specific materials we utilize, including products from Owens Corning, GAF, and CertainTeed. Our team members receive instruction on architectural shingle types, proper underlayment, roof ventilation systems, and commercial roofing membranes. We also educate our staff on the intricacies of the insurance restoration process. This deep product knowledge is absolutely crucial for accurately assessing a property's unique needs and recommending the most effective, long-lasting solutions to our customers.
Sales Coaching and Mentorship
To actively support the ongoing development of our sales team, we hold mandatory weekly sales meetings. These meetings are dedicated to skill development, strategy refinement, and comprehensive performance review. Our weekly sales meetings provide a collaborative forum for sharing successful best practices, discussing current market trends across our various locations, and addressing any specific challenges our team members are encountering in the field.
Mentorship plays a highly significant role in our overall sales training and career development efforts. Our executive leadership team is actively involved in coaching and guiding our sales representatives.
Technology and CRM Training
At John Beal Roofing, we utilize IntelliBoss, a robust CRM and business software platform, to manage our daily operations. Comprehensive training on the IntelliBoss platform is a critical component of our employee development program. Team members are trained on how to use the software to track leads, manage customer communications, and generate precise estimates. High proficiency in IntelliBoss allows our Account Managers to stay highly organized, respond promptly to all customer inquiries, and streamline their daily workflow.
Performance-Based Growth and Advancement
Our career advancement opportunities are strictly performance-based. Employees who consistently demonstrate excellence have the clear potential to grow within the organization. Our sales roles offer a commission-based pay structure, providing a direct and transparent correlation between an individual's effort and their financial earnings.
While our current sales rep postings state that earnings start at $100,000 per year, with no prior experience required and full training provided, we encourage applicants to review each specific job posting for its detailed terms. We do not guarantee that every representative earns the exact same amount or receives the exact same volume of leads. For more details, please visit our careers page.
Developing Future Managers and Leaders
We are deeply committed to promoting the future leaders of our company from within. Our executive leadership team, which includes President Sam Maiden Jr., General Manager Tammy Niko, CFO Debbie Mason, and Production Manager Dan Pulley, understands the importance of internal promotion.
A prime example is Austin Maiden, our National Sales Director. Austin has been a dedicated member of the team since 2018. He worked his way up through nearly every job within the organization. In 2026, Austin successfully reopened and revamped our Kansas City office. Today, he oversees hiring, training, and recruiting for all of our markets. His impressive career trajectory clearly demonstrates the very real opportunities for advancement that are available to those who are driven, capable, and committed to our company's success.
