Materials installed, layer by layer

Owens Corning Supreme is a traditional three-tab shingle, a flat, uniform look that suits smaller sections, outbuildings and homes that were originally built with three-tab. People shop for the shingle, but what’s underneath it and how the edges are finished decide how long the roof lasts. On this job:

  • Synthetic underlayment over the whole deck. It’s stronger and more tear-resistant than felt, and it lies flat if weather rolls in during the tear-off.
  • Ice and water shield in the valleys and along the eaves. Those are the two places a Midwest roof takes on water first, from ice dams in January and heavy runoff in spring storms.
  • OC Starter strip along every edge. The first course is where wind gets under a roof. A factory starter with its own sealant line locks it down.
  • OC ProEdge Hip & Ridge cap. Pre-formed cap that seals the hips and ridge.
  • Lomanco Omni Roll ridge vent. Continuous exhaust at the peak. Together with the soffit intake, it moves heat and moisture out of the attic.

Who installed it

This was a St. Louis office job, installed by our own crew, not subcontracted out. From the day the job was opened (May 13, 2026) to the day the crew finished (September 14, 2026) took 124 days. Family-owned since 1947, we back every replacement with a lifetime workmanship warranty. If a storm opens up a roof at 2 a.m., someone answers the phone. See 24/7 emergency service.

Questions homeowners ask about this project

What shingle was installed on this Alton roof?

Owens Corning OC Supreme, over synthetic underlayment across the full deck. The full system is in the project details table above.

How big was the roof on Hoover Court?

19.00 squares, or about 1,900 square feet of roof surface. A roofing square is 100 square feet. Roofs are measured and priced that way, not by the square footage of the floor plan.

What kind of ventilation went on this roof?

A Lomanco Omni Roll ridge vent along the peak. Paired with soffit intake, it lets hot, moist attic air escape.

Was ice and water shield installed?

Yes. Alco Ice & Water membrane went in the valleys and along the eaves, the spots where water backs up or collects first.

Do you publish the customer's address?

No. We publish the street name, city and ZIP so you can see we really work in your neighborhood. We leave off the house number and never publish a customer's name.

Who do I call about a roof in Alton?
