The roofing system on this house

Duration is Owens Corning's best-known architectural shingle. The engineered, woven SureNail strip across the nailing line is what sets it apart: it gives nails a defined target and grip. People shop for the shingle, but what’s underneath it and how the edges are finished decide how long the roof lasts. On this job:

  • Synthetic underlayment over the whole deck. It’s stronger and more tear-resistant than felt, and it lies flat if weather rolls in during the tear-off.
  • Self-sealing ice and water membrane where water concentrates. It seals around every nail driven through it, which matters in valleys and at the eaves.
  • IKO Starter strip along every edge. The first course is where wind gets under a roof. A factory starter with its own sealant line locks it down.
  • Owens Corning Hip & Ridge cap. Pre-formed cap that seals the hips and ridge.
  • Lomanco Omni Roll ridge vent. Continuous exhaust at the peak. Together with the soffit intake, it moves heat and moisture out of the attic.

Who did the work

This was a St. Louis office job, installed by our own crew, not subcontracted out. From the day the job was opened (July 6, 2026) to the day the crew finished (September 25, 2026) took 81 days. Family-owned since 1947, we back every replacement with a lifetime workmanship warranty. If a storm opens up a roof at 2 a.m., someone answers the phone. See 24/7 emergency service.
