Materials installed, layer by layer

Owens Corning TruDefinition Duration uses SureNail Technology, a woven strip across the nailing zone that gives the fasteners something to grab and helps the shingle stay down in high wind. Every one of our replacements is a system, not just shingles. On this roof, from the deck up:

  • Synthetic underlayment over the whole deck. It’s stronger and more tear-resistant than felt, and it lies flat if weather rolls in during the tear-off.
  • Ice and water membrane at the eaves and in the valleys. This self-adhering layer goes where water backs up: behind ice dams at the eaves and where two slopes meet.
  • Factory starter strip along every edge. The first course is where wind gets under a roof. A factory starter with its own sealant line locks it down.
  • Owens Corning Hip & Ridge cap. Pre-formed cap that seals the hips and ridge.
  • Lomanco Omni Roll ridge vent. Continuous exhaust at the peak. Together with the soffit intake, it moves heat and moisture out of the attic.

Questions homeowners ask about this project

What shingle was installed on this Belleville roof?

Owens Corning OC Duration, over synthetic underlayment across the full deck. The full system is in the project details table above.

Was ice and water shield installed?

Yes. Ice and water membrane went in the valleys and along the eaves, the spots where water backs up or collects first.

How big was the roof on Edbrooke Drive?

30.67 squares, or about 3,067 square feet of roof surface. A roofing square is 100 square feet. Roofs are measured and priced that way, not by the square footage of the floor plan.

How long did this project take from start to finish?

40 days from the day the job was opened to the day the crew finished. Most of that time is scheduling, material ordering and any insurance paperwork. The tear-off and install usually take a day or two on a house this size.

Who do I call about a roof in Belleville?

Our St. Louis office at 314-429-6000. A person answers 24 hours a day, including nights, weekends and holidays.
