What went on this roof

IKO Nordic is the heavyweight laminated architectural shingle in the IKO lineup, with a thicker, higher-contrast profile and the same wide ArmourZone nailing strip IKO builds into Dynasty. People shop for the shingle, but what’s underneath it and how the edges are finished decide how long the roof lasts. On this job:

  • A full layer of synthetic underlayment. It’s the backup water barrier under the shingles, and it holds up to foot traffic and wind far better than paper felt.
  • Self-sealing ice and water membrane where water concentrates. It seals around every nail driven through it, which matters in valleys and at the eaves.
  • IKO Starter at the eaves and rakes. It’s a purpose-made starter strip with factory adhesive, not cut-up field shingles, so the edges stay sealed.
  • IKO Hip & Ridge cap. Pre-formed cap that seals the hips and ridge.
  • Lomanco Omni Roll ridge vent. It runs along the peak and lets hot, damp attic air escape. That protects the decking and keeps shingles from baking from below.
