What went on this roof
IKO Dynasty is a laminated architectural shingle built around a wide reinforced nailing strip IKO calls ArmourZone, which gives the installer a generous target and holds the fasteners where they belong. Every one of our replacements is a system, not just shingles. On this roof, from the deck up:
- Synthetic underlayment over the whole deck. It’s stronger and more tear-resistant than felt, and it lies flat if weather rolls in during the tear-off.
- Self-sealing ice and water membrane where water concentrates. It seals around every nail driven through it, which matters in valleys and at the eaves.
- IKO Starter strip along every edge. The first course is where wind gets under a roof. A factory starter with its own sealant line locks it down.
- IKO Hip & Ridge on the hips and peak. Matching cap shingles made for the job, not field shingles cut into pieces.
- Lomanco Omni Roll ridge vent. It runs along the peak and lets hot, damp attic air escape. That protects the decking and keeps shingles from baking from below.
