About the color: Williamsburg Gray
This house got Williamsburg Gray. A small swatch never tells the whole story, because a full roof reads lighter or darker depending on how the slopes face and the light hits them. It's a less common choice. Only 2 of our recent projects used it. That’s why we bring full-size samples out and hold them up against the house in daylight.
Materials installed, layer by layer
Owens Corning TruDefinition Duration uses SureNail Technology, a woven strip across the nailing zone that gives the fasteners something to grab and helps the shingle stay down in high wind. Every one of our replacements is a system, not just shingles. On this roof, from the deck up:
- Synthetic underlayment, edge to edge. It doesn’t wrinkle or tear like felt, and it keeps the deck dry if a shower pops up mid-job.
- Ice and water membrane at the eaves and in the valleys. This self-adhering layer goes where water backs up: behind ice dams at the eaves and where two slopes meet.
- OC Starter strip along every edge. The first course is where wind gets under a roof. A factory starter with its own sealant line locks it down.
- OC ProEdge Hip & Ridge cap. Pre-formed cap that seals the hips and ridge.
- Lomanco Omni Roll ridge vent. Continuous exhaust at the peak. Together with the soffit intake, it moves heat and moisture out of the attic.
