The color on this roof
The work order lists the color as Sedona Canyon. That name isn’t in our Owens Corning TruDefinition Duration color gallery, so we’re not showing a swatch that might be the wrong one. The image above is the shingle line itself. Your project manager can bring a full-size sample of any color out to your house. You can also browse every OC Duration color here.
What went on this roof
Owens Corning TruDefinition Duration uses SureNail Technology, a woven strip across the nailing zone that gives the fasteners something to grab and helps the shingle stay down in high wind. People shop for the shingle, but what’s underneath it and how the edges are finished decide how long the roof lasts. On this job:
- Synthetic underlayment, edge to edge. It doesn’t wrinkle or tear like felt, and it keeps the deck dry if a shower pops up mid-job.
- Ice and water membrane at the eaves and in the valleys. This self-adhering layer goes where water backs up: behind ice dams at the eaves and where two slopes meet.
- OC Starter at the eaves and rakes. It’s a purpose-made starter strip with factory adhesive, not cut-up field shingles, so the edges stay sealed.
- OC ProEdge Hip & Ridge on the hips and peak. Matching cap shingles made for the job, not field shingles cut into pieces.
- Lomanco Omni Roll ridge vent. It runs along the peak and lets hot, damp attic air escape. That protects the decking and keeps shingles from baking from below.
