What went on this roof

Duration is Owens Corning's best-known architectural shingle. The engineered, woven SureNail strip across the nailing line is what sets it apart: it gives nails a defined target and grip. The shingle is only the top layer. Here’s the full system that went on this house:

  • Two layers of synthetic underlayment. That’s double our standard spec. The second layer adds another barrier under the shingles.
  • Ice and water membrane at the eaves and in the valleys. This self-adhering layer goes where water backs up: behind ice dams at the eaves and where two slopes meet.
  • OC Starter at the eaves and rakes. It’s a purpose-made starter strip with factory adhesive, not cut-up field shingles, so the edges stay sealed.
  • OC ProEdge Hip & Ridge cap. Pre-formed cap that seals the hips and ridge.
  • Lomanco Omni Roll ridge vent. It runs along the peak and lets hot, damp attic air escape. That protects the decking and keeps shingles from baking from below.

Common questions about this job

What shingle was installed on this Florissant roof?

Owens Corning OC Duration, over two layers of synthetic underlayment, a heavier spec than our standard single layer. The full system is in the project details table above.

How long did this project take from start to finish?

46 days from the day the job was opened to the day the crew finished. Most of that time is scheduling, material ordering and any insurance paperwork. The tear-off and install usually take a day or two on a house this size.

How big was the roof on Charbonier Road?

17.00 squares, or about 1,700 square feet of roof surface. A roofing square is 100 square feet. Roofs are measured and priced that way, not by the square footage of the floor plan.

What kind of ventilation went on this roof?

A Lomanco Omni Roll ridge vent along the peak. Paired with soffit intake, it lets hot, moist attic air escape.

Do you publish the customer's address?
