The color on this roof: Chateau Green
Chateau Green is part of the OC Duration color lineup. Keep in mind a swatch is a starting point. On the roof, the color shifts with the angle of the sun, the pitch and what’s around it. It's a less common choice. Only 2 of our recent projects used it. That’s why we bring full-size samples out and hold them up against the house in daylight.
What went on this roof
Owens Corning TruDefinition Duration uses SureNail Technology, a woven strip across the nailing zone that gives the fasteners something to grab and helps the shingle stay down in high wind. The shingle is only the top layer. Here’s the full system that went on this house:
- A full layer of synthetic underlayment. It’s the backup water barrier under the shingles, and it holds up to foot traffic and wind far better than paper felt.
- Self-sealing ice and water membrane where water concentrates. It seals around every nail driven through it, which matters in valleys and at the eaves.
- IKO Starter at the eaves and rakes. It’s a purpose-made starter strip with factory adhesive, not cut-up field shingles, so the edges stay sealed.
- Owens Corning Hip & Ridge cap. Pre-formed cap that seals the hips and ridge.
- Lomanco Omni Roll ridge vent. It runs along the peak and lets hot, damp attic air escape. That protects the decking and keeps shingles from baking from below.
