Materials installed, layer by layer

Dynasty is IKO's performance architectural shingle. Its signature is ArmourZone, a reinforced fabric strip across the nailing area that gives every nail a wide, tough landing spot. The shingle is only the top layer. Here’s the full system that went on this house:

  • Synthetic underlayment over the whole deck. It’s stronger and more tear-resistant than felt, and it lies flat if weather rolls in during the tear-off.
  • Ice and water shield in the valleys and along the eaves. Those are the two places a Midwest roof takes on water first, from ice dams in January and heavy runoff in spring storms.
  • IKO Starter at the eaves and rakes. It’s a purpose-made starter strip with factory adhesive, not cut-up field shingles, so the edges stay sealed.
  • IKO Hip & Ridge on the hips and peak. Matching cap shingles made for the job, not field shingles cut into pieces.
  • Lomanco Omni Roll ridge vent. Continuous exhaust at the peak. Together with the soffit intake, it moves heat and moisture out of the attic.

Who did the work

John Beal Roofing crews out of our St. Louis office installed this roof. The job was opened in our system on April 20, 2026 and the crew finished on May 28, 2026, 38 days later. We’ve been family-owned since 1947. We run our own crews, and every roof comes with our lifetime workmanship warranty on top of the manufacturer’s material coverage. We answer the phone around the clock, storms included. See 24/7 emergency service.

FAQ about this roof

What shingle was installed on this Godfrey roof?

IKO IKO Dynasty, over synthetic underlayment across the full deck. The full system is in the project details table above.

What kind of ventilation went on this roof?

A Lomanco Omni Roll ridge vent along the peak. Paired with soffit intake, it lets hot, moist attic air escape.

How long did this project take from start to finish?

38 days from the day the job was opened to the day the crew finished. Most of that time is scheduling, material ordering and any insurance paperwork. The tear-off and install usually take a day or two on a house this size.

Was ice and water shield installed?

Yes. Alco Ice & Water membrane went in the valleys and along the eaves, the spots where water backs up or collects first.

Do you publish the customer's address?

No. We publish the street name, city and ZIP so you can see we really work in your neighborhood. We leave off the house number and never publish a customer's name.
