The roofing system on this house

IKO Dynasty is a laminated architectural shingle built around a wide reinforced nailing strip IKO calls ArmourZone, which gives the installer a generous target and holds the fasteners where they belong. Every one of our replacements is a system, not just shingles. On this roof, from the deck up:

  • A full layer of synthetic underlayment. It’s the backup water barrier under the shingles, and it holds up to foot traffic and wind far better than paper felt.
  • Ice and water shield in the valleys and along the eaves. Those are the two places a Midwest roof takes on water first, from ice dams in January and heavy runoff in spring storms.
  • IKO Starter strip along every edge. The first course is where wind gets under a roof. A factory starter with its own sealant line locks it down.
  • IKO Hip & Ridge on the hips and peak. Matching cap shingles made for the job, not field shingles cut into pieces.
  • Lomanco Omni Roll ridge vent. It runs along the peak and lets hot, damp attic air escape. That protects the decking and keeps shingles from baking from below.

Who installed it

John Beal Roofing crews out of our St. Louis office installed this roof. The job was opened in our system on June 17, 2026 and the crew finished on September 30, 2026, 105 days later. We’ve been family-owned since 1947. We run our own crews, and every roof comes with our lifetime workmanship warranty on top of the manufacturer’s material coverage. If a storm opens up a roof at 2 a.m., someone answers the phone. See 24/7 emergency service.

Common questions about this job

What shingle was installed on this Hazelwood roof?

IKO IKO Dynasty, over synthetic underlayment across the full deck. The full system is in the project details table above.

Was ice and water shield installed?

Yes. Alco Ice & Water membrane went in the valleys and along the eaves, the spots where water backs up or collects first.

How big was the roof on Airshire Place?

22.67 squares, or about 2,267 square feet of roof surface. A roofing square is 100 square feet. Roofs are measured and priced that way, not by the square footage of the floor plan.

How long did this project take from start to finish?

105 days from the day the job was opened to the day the crew finished. Most of that time is scheduling, material ordering and any insurance paperwork. The tear-off and install usually take a day or two on a house this size.

Who do I call about a roof in Hazelwood?
