Materials installed, layer by layer
Owens Corning TruDefinition Duration uses SureNail Technology, a woven strip across the nailing zone that gives the fasteners something to grab and helps the shingle stay down in high wind. Every one of our replacements is a system, not just shingles. On this roof, from the deck up:
- Synthetic underlayment, edge to edge. It doesn’t wrinkle or tear like felt, and it keeps the deck dry if a shower pops up mid-job.
- Ice and water membrane at the eaves and in the valleys. This self-adhering layer goes where water backs up: behind ice dams at the eaves and where two slopes meet.
- OC Starter strip along every edge. The first course is where wind gets under a roof. A factory starter with its own sealant line locks it down.
- OC ProEdge Hip & Ridge cap. Pre-formed cap that seals the hips and ridge.
- Lomanco Omni Roll ridge vent. Continuous exhaust at the peak. Together with the soffit intake, it moves heat and moisture out of the attic.

Owens Corning OC Duration, over synthetic underlayment across the full deck. The full system is in the project details table above.
How long did this project take from start to finish?
50 days from the day the job was opened to the day the crew finished. Most of that time is scheduling, material ordering and any insurance paperwork. The tear-off and install usually take a day or two on a house this size.

What kind of ventilation went on this roof?
A Lomanco Omni Roll ridge vent along the peak. Paired with soffit intake, it lets hot, moist attic air escape.
