The color on this roof
The work order lists the color as Driftwood. That name isn’t in our Owens Corning Supreme color gallery, so we’re not showing a swatch that might be the wrong one. The image above is the shingle line itself. Your project manager can bring a full-size sample of any color out to your house. You can also browse every OC Supreme color here.
The roofing system on this house
Supreme is Owens Corning's three-tab shingle: a flat, even pattern that matches older three-tab roofs and works well on garages and small sections. People shop for the shingle, but what’s underneath it and how the edges are finished decide how long the roof lasts. On this job:
- A full layer of synthetic underlayment. It’s the backup water barrier under the shingles, and it holds up to foot traffic and wind far better than paper felt.
- Ice and water membrane at the eaves and in the valleys. This self-adhering layer goes where water backs up: behind ice dams at the eaves and where two slopes meet.
- Factory starter at the eaves and rakes. It’s a purpose-made starter strip with factory adhesive, not cut-up field shingles, so the edges stay sealed.
- Owens Corning Hip & Ridge on the hips and peak. Matching cap shingles made for the job, not field shingles cut into pieces.
- Lomanco Omni Roll ridge vent. It runs along the peak and lets hot, damp attic air escape. That protects the decking and keeps shingles from baking from below.
