The roofing system on this house

Owens Corning Supreme is a traditional three-tab shingle, a flat, uniform look that suits smaller sections, outbuildings and homes that were originally built with three-tab. The shingle is only the top layer. Here’s the full system that went on this house:

  • Synthetic underlayment over the whole deck. It’s stronger and more tear-resistant than felt, and it lies flat if weather rolls in during the tear-off.
  • Self-sealing ice and water membrane where water concentrates. It seals around every nail driven through it, which matters in valleys and at the eaves.
  • Factory starter at the eaves and rakes. It’s a purpose-made starter strip with factory adhesive, not cut-up field shingles, so the edges stay sealed.
  • Owens Corning Hip & Ridge cap. Pre-formed cap that seals the hips and ridge.
  • Lomanco Omni Roll ridge vent. Continuous exhaust at the peak. Together with the soffit intake, it moves heat and moisture out of the attic.

Who installed it

John Beal Roofing crews out of our St. Louis office installed this roof. From the day the job was opened (September 17, 2026) to the day the crew finished (September 29, 2026) took 12 days. We’ve been family-owned since 1947. We run our own crews, and every roof comes with our lifetime workmanship warranty on top of the manufacturer’s material coverage. If a storm opens up a roof at 2 a.m., someone answers the phone. See 24/7 emergency service.
