Materials installed, layer by layer

IKO Nordic is the heavyweight laminated architectural shingle in the IKO lineup, with a thicker, higher-contrast profile and the same wide ArmourZone nailing strip IKO builds into Dynasty. The shingle is only the top layer. Here’s the full system that went on this house:

  • Synthetic underlayment, edge to edge. It doesn’t wrinkle or tear like felt, and it keeps the deck dry if a shower pops up mid-job.
  • Self-sealing ice and water membrane where water concentrates. It seals around every nail driven through it, which matters in valleys and at the eaves.
  • IKO Starter at the eaves and rakes. It’s a purpose-made starter strip with factory adhesive, not cut-up field shingles, so the edges stay sealed.
  • IKO Hip & Ridge on the hips and peak. Matching cap shingles made for the job, not field shingles cut into pieces.
  • Lomanco Omni Roll ridge vent. It runs along the peak and lets hot, damp attic air escape. That protects the decking and keeps shingles from baking from below.

Who installed it

This was a St. Louis office job, installed by our own crew, not subcontracted out. From the day the job was opened (March 31, 2026) to the day the crew finished (June 5, 2026) took 66 days. Family-owned since 1947, we back every replacement with a lifetime workmanship warranty. We answer the phone around the clock, storms included. See 24/7 emergency service.

Common questions about this job

What shingle was installed on this St. Louis roof?

IKO IKO Nordic, over synthetic underlayment across the full deck. The full system is in the project details table above.

How big was the roof on Ruby Manor Court?

40.00 squares, or about 4,000 square feet of roof surface. A roofing square is 100 square feet. Roofs are measured and priced that way, not by the square footage of the floor plan.

Was ice and water shield installed?

Yes. Alco Ice & Water membrane went in the valleys and along the eaves, the spots where water backs up or collects first.

How long did this project take from start to finish?

66 days from the day the job was opened to the day the crew finished. Most of that time is scheduling, material ordering and any insurance paperwork. The tear-off and install usually take a day or two on a house this size.
