About TAMKO Titan XT
Titan XT is one of TAMKO’s architectural shingles, and TAMKO itself has deep Midwest roots — the company is headquartered in Joplin, Missouri. Titan XT gives a home the layered, dimensional look most homeowners want today, and its color range is broad enough that most exteriors have a good match. Color availability differs by region, which is why our color selector shows the 17 Titan XT shades sold in the Midwest rather than every color TAMKO has ever made.
Titan XT grays and blacks
Rustic Black, Thunderstorm Grey, Oxford Grey, Olde English Pewter, Antique Slate, Mountain Slate and Rustic Slate make up the cool side. Rustic Black is the deepest and gives the strongest outline against white or pale siding. Thunderstorm Grey and Oxford Grey are mid-to-dark grays that look clean on colonials and modern farmhouse exteriors. Olde English Pewter is lighter and softer. The three slate shades carry the blue-gray character of natural slate and pair with cool stone, navy shutters and gray siding.
Titan XT browns and wood tones
Weathered Wood, Natural Timber, Autumn Brown, Black Walnut, Rustic Hickory, Rustic Cedar, Rustic Redwood, Desert Sand and Painted Desert are the warm side. Weathered Wood blends brown and gray and works on mixed exteriors where brick and siding meet. Natural Timber and Desert Sand are lighter and suit tan, cream and stone-front homes. Autumn Brown, Black Walnut and Rustic Hickory are richer browns that complement the red and orange brick common across St. Louis, Kansas City and Springfield. Rustic Cedar and Rustic Redwood bring red-brown warmth that suits cedar accents and lake homes. Painted Desert leans warm and sandy.
The accent shade: Rustic Evergreen
Rustic Evergreen is the one true accent color in the Midwest Titan XT palette. It suits cabins, lake homes around the Ozarks, farmhouses and homes with natural wood and stone. As with any bold color, view it on a whole-house photo and check any HOA rules first.
How to choose a Titan XT color
- Start with the brick, stone and siding you are keeping, and match their undertone.
- Choose contrast on purpose: dark roof over light siding for crisp, mid-tone for soft.
- Look at swatches outdoors, in morning and afternoon light, on a sunny and a cloudy day.
- Look from the street, where blends read as a single color.
- Consider your neighborhood. A roof that suits the street helps resale.

Hail, wind and choosing a TAMKO line
Midwest homeowners often weigh color against storm performance. TAMKO also offers impact-rated lines, which appear on our TAMKO color page alongside Titan XT. If hail is a concern in your area, ask about impact-rated options during your inspection and ask your insurance agent whether your policy offers a credit for them.

The Rustic family explained
Six of the Midwest Titan XT colors carry the Rustic name: Rustic Black, Rustic Cedar, Rustic Evergreen, Rustic Hickory, Rustic Redwood and Rustic Slate. They share a textured, varied blend that reads as natural and weathered from the street. If you like the look of one but not its color, the rest of the Rustic family gives you the same character in a different tone, from the deep Rustic Black to the warm Rustic Cedar.
Confirming your Titan XT color
We confirm your exact Titan XT color with the local supplier before ordering, match the ridge cap to the field shingle, and keep bundles from matching lots wherever possible. Ask to see a physical sample on your home before the order is final.
What to expect as a Titan XT roof ages
Some loose granules in the gutters after the first few rains is normal on any new asphalt roof. Over time, sunlight softens the contrast of every shingle blend, so the Rustic colors in particular settle into a calmer, more weathered look — which is part of their appeal. Dark streaks on shaded, north-facing slopes are usually algae and should never be pressure-washed, because that strips granules and shortens the roof’s life. Keep gutters and valleys clear, trim limbs that rub the roof, and have the roof inspected after any significant hail or wind. Granule loss concentrated in one area, lifted or creased shingles, or exposed mat are signs of damage rather than normal aging, and they may be covered by insurance if a storm caused them. We document storm damage with dated photos and a written report.
