The color on this roof

The work order lists the color as Storm Cloud. That name isn’t in our Owens Corning TruDefinition Duration color gallery, so we’re not showing a swatch that might be the wrong one. The image above is the shingle line itself. Your project manager can bring a full-size sample of any color out to your house. You can also browse every OC Duration color here.

What went on this roof

Duration is Owens Corning's best-known architectural shingle. The engineered, woven SureNail strip across the nailing line is what sets it apart: it gives nails a defined target and grip. People shop for the shingle, but what’s underneath it and how the edges are finished decide how long the roof lasts. On this job:

  • Synthetic underlayment over the whole deck. It’s stronger and more tear-resistant than felt, and it lies flat if weather rolls in during the tear-off.
  • Ice and water shield in the valleys and along the eaves. Those are the two places a Midwest roof takes on water first, from ice dams in January and heavy runoff in spring storms.
  • OC Starter strip along every edge. The first course is where wind gets under a roof. A factory starter with its own sealant line locks it down.
  • OC ProEdge Hip & Ridge cap. Pre-formed cap that seals the hips and ridge.
  • Lomanco Omni Roll ridge vent. Continuous exhaust at the peak. Together with the soffit intake, it moves heat and moisture out of the attic.

The crew behind this roof

This was a St. Louis office job, installed by our own crew, not subcontracted out. The job was opened in our system on August 26, 2026 and the crew finished on September 4, 2026, 9 days later. Family-owned since 1947, we back every replacement with a lifetime workmanship warranty. If a storm opens up a roof at 2 a.m., someone answers the phone. See 24/7 emergency service.
