The color on this roof
The work order lists the color as Harbor Blue. That name isn’t in our GAF Royal Sovereign color gallery, so we’re not showing a swatch that might be the wrong one. The image above is the shingle line itself. Your project manager can bring a full-size sample of any color out to your house. You can also browse every GAF Royal Sovereign color here.
The roofing system on this house
GAF Royal Sovereign is a traditional three-tab shingle, a flat, uniform look that suits smaller sections, outbuildings and homes originally built with three-tab. The shingle is only the top layer. Here’s the full system that went on this house:
- Synthetic underlayment, edge to edge. It doesn’t wrinkle or tear like felt, and it keeps the deck dry if a shower pops up mid-job.
- Ice and water membrane at the eaves and in the valleys. This self-adhering layer goes where water backs up: behind ice dams at the eaves and where two slopes meet.
- GAF Starter at the eaves and rakes. It’s a purpose-made starter strip with factory adhesive, not cut-up field shingles, so the edges stay sealed.
- GAF Hip & Ridge cap. Pre-formed cap that seals the hips and ridge.
- Lomanco Omni Roll ridge vent. Continuous exhaust at the peak. Together with the soffit intake, it moves heat and moisture out of the attic.
