On Nantwich Lane in Saint Charles, MO (the St. Charles County seat on the Missouri River, where subdivisions run from 1970s split-levels to newer two-story builds), the crew tore off and replaced a 30.00-square roof, the size of a larger ranch or a modest two-story. It was one of 5 roof replacements our crews completed in Saint Charles in October 2026. The roofing system on this house
Duration is Owens Corning's best-known architectural shingle. The engineered, woven SureNail strip across the nailing line is what sets it apart: it gives nails a defined target and grip. People shop for the shingle, but what’s underneath it and how the edges are finished decide how long the roof lasts. On this job:
- Synthetic underlayment, edge to edge. It doesn’t wrinkle or tear like felt, and it keeps the deck dry if a shower pops up mid-job.
- Ice and water membrane at the eaves and in the valleys. This self-adhering layer goes where water backs up: behind ice dams at the eaves and where two slopes meet.
- Factory starter at the eaves and rakes. It’s a purpose-made starter strip with factory adhesive, not cut-up field shingles, so the edges stay sealed.
- Owens Corning Hip & Ridge cap. Pre-formed cap that seals the hips and ridge.
- Lomanco Omni Roll ridge vent. Continuous exhaust at the peak. Together with the soffit intake, it moves heat and moisture out of the attic.
