What went on this roof

Supreme is Owens Corning's three-tab shingle: a flat, even pattern that matches older three-tab roofs and works well on garages and small sections. The shingle is only the top layer. Here’s the full system that went on this house:

  • A full layer of synthetic underlayment. It’s the backup water barrier under the shingles, and it holds up to foot traffic and wind far better than paper felt.
  • Ice and water membrane at the eaves and in the valleys. This self-adhering layer goes where water backs up: behind ice dams at the eaves and where two slopes meet.
  • OC Starter strip along every edge. The first course is where wind gets under a roof. A factory starter with its own sealant line locks it down.
  • OC ProEdge Hip & Ridge cap. Pre-formed cap that seals the hips and ridge.
  • Lomanco Omni Roll ridge vent. It runs along the peak and lets hot, damp attic air escape. That protects the decking and keeps shingles from baking from below.

The crew behind this roof

This was a St. Louis office job, installed by John Beal Roofing. From the day the job was opened (August 20, 2026) to the day the crew finished (October 8, 2026) took 49 days. Family-owned since 1947, we back every replacement with a lifetime workmanship warranty. If a storm opens up a roof at 2 a.m., someone answers the phone. See 24/7 emergency service.
