Materials installed, layer by layer

IKO Dynasty is a laminated architectural shingle built around a wide reinforced nailing strip IKO calls ArmourZone, which gives the installer a generous target and holds the fasteners where they belong. The shingle is only the top layer. Here’s the full system that went on this house:

  • Synthetic underlayment, edge to edge. It doesn’t wrinkle or tear like felt, and it keeps the deck dry if a shower pops up mid-job.
  • Ice and water shield in the valleys and along the eaves. Those are the two places a Midwest roof takes on water first, from ice dams in January and heavy runoff in spring storms.
  • IKO Starter strip along every edge. The first course is where wind gets under a roof. A factory starter with its own sealant line locks it down.
  • IKO Hip & Ridge cap. Pre-formed cap that seals the hips and ridge.
  • Lomanco Omni Roll ridge vent. Continuous exhaust at the peak. Together with the soffit intake, it moves heat and moisture out of the attic.

Who installed it

The crew came out of our St. Louis office. John Beal Roofing has been family-run since 1947, and our lifetime workmanship warranty covers the installation for as long as you own the home. If a storm opens up a roof at 2 a.m., someone answers the phone. See 24/7 emergency service.
