Our crew finished a 1.67-square job, only about 167 square feet, the scale of a garage, porch roof or one section of a house on Hurstgreen Drive in Overland, MO on Wednesday, July 1. Overland is an inner-ring North County suburb along Page Avenue and I-170, where much of the housing dates to the postwar building boom. We replaced 2 other roofs in ZIP 63114 that same month. The system: 15 lb felt underlayment, ice and water membrane in the valleys and at the eaves, and OC Supreme on top.

What went on this roof
Owens Corning Supreme is a traditional three-tab shingle, a flat, uniform look that suits smaller sections, outbuildings and homes that were originally built with three-tab. The shingle is only the top layer. Here’s the full system that went on this house:
- 15 lb felt underlayment. Felt went down over the deck under the shingles.
- Ice and water membrane at the eaves and in the valleys. This self-adhering layer goes where water backs up: behind ice dams at the eaves and where two slopes meet.
- OC Starter at the eaves and rakes. It’s a purpose-made starter strip with factory adhesive, not cut-up field shingles, so the edges stay sealed.
- OC ProEdge Hip & Ridge cap. Pre-formed cap that seals the hips and ridge.
- Lomanco Omni Roll ridge vent. It runs along the peak and lets hot, damp attic air escape. That protects the decking and keeps shingles from baking from below.

What shingle was installed on this Overland roof?
Owens Corning OC Supreme, over 15 lb felt underlayment. The full system is in the project details table above.
How long did this project take from start to finish?
9 days from the day the job was opened to the day the crew finished. Most of that time is scheduling, material ordering and any insurance paperwork. The tear-off and install usually take a day or two on a house this size.
How big was the roof on Hurstgreen Drive?
1.67 squares, or about 167 square feet of roof surface. A roofing square is 100 square feet. Roofs are measured and priced that way, not by the square footage of the floor plan.
Was ice and water shield installed?
Yes. Alco Ice & Water membrane went in the valleys and along the eaves, the spots where water backs up or collects first.
