Pacific is the west end of our I-44 route, not an out-of-town favor. The city was platted as Franklin in 1852, renamed for the railroad, and today straddles Franklin County and a piece of southwest St. Louis County. ZIP code 63069. Population 7,414 at the 2020 census. Older houses near the original town center and newer subdivision roofs on the edges fail for different reasons, and we price them differently.
Wind, ridge cap, and open ground
Houses west of the county line often sit with less tree break than a Ballwin subdivision. Wind keeps more of its speed and works the same places: the rake edge, the first courses above the eave, and the ridge cap. A missing ridge cap is frequently a claim, not a one-tab repair, because the courses below it are creased. We photograph the creases. We do not guess from the street.
Plank decking in the older part of town
Older Pacific houses were often decked with planks, not plywood. Planks shrink. Nail holding fails in the gaps. If a gap is too wide to nail into, the tear-off needs sheathing over the planks. That per-sheet price is in the written estimate before we start, and we photograph every sheet we replace. It is not a surprise on day two.
Newer streets at the edge of town have the opposite pattern: builder-grade three-tab, installed across a whole subdivision, reaching the end of its life together around the twenty-year mark. If the neighbors are all reroofing, that is the shingle aging out, not a coincidence.
We have already roofed a house here
Our crews replaced the roof at Old Manchester Road in Pacific — Owens Corning Duration, Estate Gray, 19.67 squares. That job is on this site with the shingle named. Pacific is not a city we claim and never visit.
If it is an emergency
Call 314-429-6000. A person answers, including at night. During a metro-wide hail line we triage by water coming in, so say so on the phone. For everything else we schedule a window and keep it. There is no trip charge for an inspection in Pacific. The crews on a Pacific roof are the same crews on a Kirkwood roof that week.
Gutters on an exposed elevation take the same wind. If the ridge is gone, the gutters are often dented, and those dents date the storm. Gutter work is handled by our gutter division — start at St. Louis Gutter Company if the city page is not the piece you need.

Frequently asked questions
- Do you come to Pacific, or is that too far?
- We come to Pacific. It is on our regular I-44 route through Valley Park and Eureka. No trip charge. No inspection fee.
- Half the ridge cap blew off. Repair or claim?
- Often a claim. Wind that takes ridge cap usually creases the field below it. We document both and you decide with the photographs, not a driveway guess.
- What if the deck is planks?
- You see the per-sheet sheathing price in the estimate before the job starts. We photograph every sheet we replace. We flag plank decking as a possibility on older Pacific houses up front.
- Can you roof a garage or outbuilding at the same time?
- Yes. It costs less while the crew and the dumpster are already there. We will quote shingle and metal. Metal is often the better answer on an outbuilding.
